Transition to Democracy for Iran - Part 7: The Iranian Parliament in Exile as the Best Tool for Developing Leadership

After more than a year since the WLF uprising started, it seems that the situation has been hampered. Lack of inclusive political organization and leadership, and the necessary financial support has led to the erosion of forces and the quenching of the flames of the uprising, just as it did in 2019. Hundreds have been killed and many families deprived of their assets. It is time that the senior members of all the different opposition groups realize the importance of a consolidated leadership and start working towards it. A winning strategy can lead to forced structural reforms with the ultimate goal of dissolving the current regime and establishing a democracy at the lowest possible human and social cost. In order to be able to develop this strategy, first a consolidated leadership needs to be established. Effective leadership and the methods for its development depend strongly on the case and context. There also exist quite a number of substantially different approaches and schools of thought in this field. Here we describe some general backgrounds that are relevant to the struggle against the IR regime. Currently, the opposition to the IR regime is fragmented and lacks a unified structure, which makes it difficult to coordinate and execute effective actions and hence we miss all the opportunities that become available (e.g. large-scale protests like the WLF uprising). Also, Iranians have not only been subjected to decades of propaganda and disinformation by the regime, but have also never had access to free political parties, whose most important function is the political education of the population. Is the Iranian opposition ready for regime change and does it have the ability to carry it out? We want to establish a fair and just system of social cooperation in order to provide the foundations for all citizens to have a chance at a high quality of life. Achieving such an objective requires a framework of laws and the establishment of social and political institutions (governmental and non-governmental), which will protect the rights and freedoms of the population, as well as a government that represents the people and sees itself as responsible for them. Only such foundations can guarantee in the long-term that people will be able to justly enjoy the fruits of their effort. A continuous and long-term development of the economy, society and politics is necessary.
